Timing Belt Coatings

ZZR provides an extensive selection of coatings, with each one tailored to meet specific needs for achieving the desired coefficient of friction, abrasion resistance, or thickness for various applications. Coatings are applied in conveying, positioning, material handling and other related applications.

Upon request, all backings can be mechanically customized. ZZR tailors belts to your specific needs, including features such as vacuum chambers, grooves, slots, perforations, and more.

The polyamide fabric coating applied to the belts significantly lowers the friction coefficient. The fabric on the tooth (PAZ) helps reduce both noise and friction, making it ideal for conveyors with accumulation systems. It is also available with antistatic properties.

  • PAZ / NFT: Coating applied to the teeth, reducing the friction coefficient.

  • PAR / NFB: Coating applied to the back, lowering the friction coefficient.

  • PAZ-PAR / NFT-NFB: Coating applied to both the teeth and the back.

Friction Coefficients:

  • Polyurethane on steel: µ = 0.7
  • PAZ-PAR on steel: µ = 0.35
  • Polyurethane on aluminum: µ = 0.8
  • PAZ-PAR on aluminum: µ = 0.45

Coating in Polyurethane

Polyurethane provides the highest wear resistance.

Applications: woodworking, ceramics and glass.

FDA-compliant polyurethane coatings are available upon request.

Coating in PVC

PVC offers a high coefficient of friction and strong resistance to acids. It is commonly used in industries such as paper, ceramics, woodworking, glass and in machines for labeling and packaging.

With FDA certification, this product is also approved for use in the food industry.

The key factors to consider include:

  • Friction: Select high friction for better grip and low friction for accumulation conveyors. Friction increases with belt load and varies depending on the material being conveyed.
  • Back-bending: Not all backings are compatible with drives that involve back-bending. It is advised to consult with engineering.
  • Pulley Diameter: The belt’s flexibility, influenced by backing thickness and temperature, determines the necessary pulley diameter. The specifications on each backing page will provide these details.
